Lydia Patterson Institute offers an exciting and very detailed orchestra program, which focuses on transforming music theory into a more pragmatic curriculum to transcend all barriers. Our orchestra is led by Ms. Hilda Rodriguez, a former graduate, and active Mexican musician. She has developed a program, in which students will become empowered through their continually progressing musical prowess as well as their opportunity for growth.
Ms. Hilda Rodriguez is a graduate of Lydia Patterson Institute, who upon graduation began her career as a singer and musician. Her career took off in Mexico City, then she spent the next 18 years touring Latin America and the United States as a recording star. When she finally retired from being a career musician and vocalist, Ms. Rodriguez was approached by LPI's former principal David Rodriguez and the current assistant principal Ms. Woo. They felt she could breathe life into LPI’s music program and they were right! Ms. Rodriguez brings a certain fervor towards music rarely seen, in 2009 she created the current Orchestra program by bringing together the necessary instruments and constructing a lesson plan from scratch. Every deficiency within the previous music program she would personally correct, she has a true passion for music and instills a sense of pride in every student within her program. Ms. Hilda Rodriguez is truly a blessing to the LPI music programs.
