LPI offers Mariachi classes to any student that wants to participate in this exciting activity. The mariachi is widely recognized throughout the world as a national symbol of Mexico. This string and trumpet ensemble typically consists of eight to twelve musicians, dressed in the distinguished charro attire.
The mariachi ensemble has achieved widespread appeal partly because of its ability to play a broad range of musical genres, specializing in the cancion ranchera, son jalisciense, polka, bolero, and huapango. Equally important, mariachi musicians produce an engaging sound that embodies the depth and range of human emotion.
Formerly a little-known, regional, rural musical style, mariachi music has taken root in many public spaces throughout Mexico and the United States.
